Continua fino al 20 Dicembre 2020 la nuova mostra di Meme Gallery A Slice of Happiness dell’artista/graphic designer Maria Walter Nielsen.
Nello squisito spazio del “silos creativo” fondato da Maria Angela di Pierro, situato nel distretto del design di Brera a Milano, dopo i tappeti Cartomanzia di Federico Pazienza e la serie di disegni Trattamento di Bellezza di Gala Fernandez, Maria Nielsen ci fa riscoprire la bellezza delle cose semplici.

Realizzato durante il periodo del primo lockdown, ma a detta dell’artista pensato già da molto tempo, il progetto si costituisce in una serie di disegni colorati e divertenti che hanno come soggetto il cibo. Il titolo è emblematico, A Slice of Happiness (una fetta di felicità), il quale sposa e allo stesso tempo esplica e ci riporta a quel senso di appagamento che il cibo è capace di far scaturire in ognuno di noi.
Lo stile, coerente con la formazione grafica dell’artista, si avvicina qui ad un approccio pop e ironico che allo stesso tempo ben rappresenta l’attitudine nordica dell’autrice per l’attenzione ai dettagli e alle minuscole “pieghe dell’esistenza”.
In un momento in cui siamo forzati all’isolamento, l’artista riporta l’attenzione su un tipo di piacere semplice ed immediato, che viene amplificato nella condivisione, nella felicità di preparare qualcosa da mangiare insieme. Un tributo al cibo dunque e alla sua presenza quotidiana nelle nostre vite, spesso data per scontata.
Ed ecco che una fetta di salame, un carciofo, un frutto della passione tagliato a metà non solo rivelano pattern inaspettatamente interessanti, ma diventano anche portatori di piccole, mai come oggi necessarie, “Fette di Felicità”. D’altronde “tutto cambia e viene meglio, se è tagliato bene”.

A Slice of Happiness, the new exhibition at Meme Gallery by the artist / graphic designer Maria Walter Nielsen, continues to be visible until 20th December 2020.
In the exquisite space of the “creative silos” founded by Maria Angela di Pierro, located in the Brera design district in Milan, after Cartomanzia by Federico Pazienza and the series of Beauty Treatment by Gala Fernandez, Maria Nielsen makes us rediscover the true beauty of simple things.

Made during the period of the first lockdown, but according to the artist already thought of for a long time, the project consists in a series of colourful and fun drawings that have as their subject the Food. The title is emblematic, A Slice of Happiness, which marries and at the same time expresses and brings us back to that sense of fulfilment that food is capable of giving to every one of us.
The style, which stays consistent with the artist’s graphic background, here shows slightly more pop and ironic approach, which at the same time well represents the author’s Nordic attitude for attention to detail and to those tiny “folds of existence”.
In a time when we are forced into isolation, the artist brings attention back to a type of simple and immediate pleasure, which is amplified in sharing, and to the happiness of preparing something to eat together. A tribute to food and to its daily presence in our lives, which is often taken for granted. And so a slice of salami, an artichoke, a passion fruit cut in half not only reveal unexpectedly interesting patterns, but also become carriers of small, now more necessary than ever, “Slices of Happiness”. In the end, “everything changes and gets better, if it’s cut well”.
